We informed you earlier that Tata Motors will launch the next-gen Nexon and an all-new compact SUV, internally called the Scarlet. While the launch details of the new Nexon is yet to be revealed officially, a new media report claims that the next-gen Tata Nexon will be launched in the second half of 2026.
Internally called as Garud, the next Nexon compact SUV is yet to hit Indian roads for testing purposes. We still believe that the launch could take place in 2027. The new model will be based on the existing X1 platform, which will be heavily upgraded to receive massive structural changes.
The next-gen Tata Nexon is expected to receive significant design and interior changes in line with newer Tata models. It is likely to get improved infotainment and driver’s displays, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front and rear seats, powered front seats and improved ADAS tech.
The new Nexon is likely to come with the petrol and CNG fuel options. A diesel engine could be introduced; however, Tata will have to make huge changes to the existing 1.5L turbo unit to meet the upcoming BS7 emission norms. It is also likely to get a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which will first debut in entry-level Tata Sierra. Other engine choices will include a 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol and petrol-CNG.
Tata Motors is also working on the next-gen Harrier and Safari, which are likely to be launched sometime in 2027. Both SUVs will be based on the upgraded architecture and will come with four-wheel-drive capabilities. The new Harrier and Safari are likely to be longer and bolder than the outgoing models.
