Skoda Auto has just revealed the second-generation Kodiaq’s powertrain options ahead of its global debut. The automaker also released a few official pictures of the SUV, giving us details about its exterior and interior. We take a closer look.
The new Skoda Kodiaq will be offered with a new plug-in-hybrid powertrain option in addition to the standard TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines. The Skoda Kodiaq iV pairs a 1.5-litre TSI motor with a 25.7 kWh battery pack. Combined, it makes 204 bhp mated to a 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The brand claims the Kodiaq iV will have an electric-only range of over 100 kms.
For India, we expect the Czech manufacturer to continue with the 2.0-liter TSI motor that makes 204 bhp of peak power. This unit will come mated to a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox, sending power to all four wheels.
Skoda also released some official pictures of the next-gen Kodiaq. While it is clad in heavy camouflage, the pictures do reveal some design elements. The upcoming SUV will feature a slim and wide front grille similar to the ones on the Skoda Slavia and Skoda Kushaq. However, it gets thicker vertical slats than the latter two. It will be flanked by split Matrix LED headlights while the front bumper houses a radar sensor for the ADAS-features.
Moving to the side, the new Kodiaq receives an updated glasshouse with the windowline featuring an upward kink behind the rear doors. At the rear, the second-gen SUV will get all-new LED taillights and a redesigned bumper.

Notable features include a 12.9-inch infotainment system with a display cleaner, a HUD, and a steering-column mounted drive selector. The rear passengers will get a storage compartment with a cup holder on the central tunnel. Skoda will offer the new Kodiaq in both 5- and 7-seat configurations internationally, but for India we can expect the same 7-seater layout to continue.
