We have just witnessed the launch of the much-awaited Maruti Victoris mid-sized SUV, which is set to challenge the dominance of Hyundai Creta. Before Diwali 2025, two brand new SUVs will hit our market. While Tata Motors will bring back the iconic Sierra nameplate in EV avatar, Hyundai is readying the new-gen Venue sub-4 meter SUV.
Tata officials confirmed that the Sierra EV will arrive in our market during festive season, before Diwali 2025. Its ICE-powered version will be launched in the first quarter of 2026. The electric Sierra will be based on the brand’s new Acti.ev+ architecture, which is the upgraded version of the Acti.ev platform.
It is expected to share the powertrain with Harrier EV, which comes with 65kWh and 75kWh LFP battery packs. However, the Tata Sierra EV will be a front-wheel-drive (front-axle-mounted electric motor) SUV. It is also likely to get a dual-motor AWD set-up, called QWD (Quad-Wheel-Drive). This model is expected to offer a realistic range of around 450-500km on a single charge.
Some of the key features include a panoramic sunroof, triple screen dashboard, powered front seats, ventilated front and rear seats, automatic climate control, all-wheel disc brakes, full LED lighting system, LEVEL-2 ADAS, a 360-degree surround view camera and front and rear parking sensors.
The second generation Hyundai Venue is all set to go on sale on 24th October 2025. The SUV has been caught testing numerous times on the Indian roads, revealing key details. It comes with a significantly revised design and an all-new cabin with a longer list of comfort, convenience and safety features.
The new Venue will come with a dual 10.2-inch curvilinear screen set-up comprising an infotainment unit and an instrument console. It comes with a completely redesigned centre console, featuring new AC vents and new set of physical controls. It is expected to get a 360-degree surround view camera, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, rain sensing wipers, ambient lighting, dashcam and new premium sound system.
The new Venue will continue to be offered with the same set of engines, including a 1.2L NA petrol with 5-speed manual gearbox, a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol with 7-speed DCT and 6MT, and a 1.5L diesel with 6MT. The diesel version could also get an automatic option.
