Will the New Skoda Epiq EV Launch in India?

Skoda Epiq EV could become the brand’s first affordable EV for India. Offers up to 440 km range with fast charging and premium features. Expected to rival Creta Electric, Curvv.ev, and e Vitara if launched here.

Skoda has finally revealed its new entry-level electric SUV, called the Epiq EV, and it could become a very important product for the brand globally. The compact electric SUV sits below the Enyaq and Elroq in Skoda’s EV lineup and is expected to be the company’s most affordable EV.

Now the big question is - will Skoda bring the Epiq EV to India?

Why the Epiq EV Makes Sense for India

India’s electric car market is growing quickly, especially in the compact SUV segment. Buyers are now looking for EVs that offer good range, modern features, and practical pricing. This is exactly where the new Skoda Epiq EV could fit in.

At present, Skoda does not sell any electric vehicle in India. The Epiq EV could help the company finally enter the country’s fast-growing EV market and compete with upcoming models like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv.ev, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, and Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.

If launched with competitive pricing, the Epiq could attract buyers looking for a premium yet practical electric SUV. Reports suggest it could be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh in India.

New Design Language

The Epiq EV is the first production model to fully use Skoda’s new “Modern Solid” design language. The SUV gets a clean and futuristic look with sharp styling details and minimal design elements.

At the front, it features the new glossy black Tech-Deck Face grille along with slim T-shaped LED DRLs. The bumper gets sporty vertical elements inspired by the Vision 7S concept.

From the side, the SUV looks muscular despite its compact size. It gets large wheel arches, roof rails, and blacked-out roof elements that add to its sporty appeal. At the rear, the Epiq gets T-shaped LED tail lamps, Skoda lettering, and an integrated spoiler.

Premium Cabin and Features

Inside, the Epiq EV gets a simple but modern cabin layout. Skoda says the SUV offers a spacious interior along with a 475-litre boot and a small front storage compartment under the bonnet.

The dashboard features a large 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google Maps, Spotify, YouTube, and connected car functions. Other features include a digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, heated seats, heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, powered tailgate, OTA updates, and a 10-speaker sound system.

Skoda has also used recycled and animal-free materials inside the cabin, making the Epiq more eco-friendly.

Battery, Range and Charging

Globally, the Epiq EV will be offered with two battery pack choices - a smaller 38.5 kWh battery and a larger 55 kWh battery.

The top-spec version produces 208 bhp and offers a claimed driving range of around 440 km on a single charge. Lower variants deliver around 310 km range.

The SUV also supports fast charging, and Skoda claims the bigger battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 24 minutes using a DC fast charger.

Could India Get It Soon?

Skoda has not officially confirmed the India launch timeline for the Epiq EV yet. However, with demand for affordable electric SUVs increasing rapidly in India, the chances of the Epiq coming here look strong.

If Skoda decides to localise the SUV and price it competitively, the Epiq EV could become one of the brand’s most important products in India’s EV market.
