2022 Kia Sonet X-Line Officially Teased Ahead of Launch

Kia India’s sub-4-meter SUV, the Sonet is set to get a fresh dose of sporty treatment in the form of an X-Line trim. Aimed squarely at the upcoming Hyundai Venue N-Line, the official teaser of the car was shared by the Korean carmaker revealing some design bits. The launch of this special edition is expected to take place this festive season and it will sit above the existing variant line-up. For reference, this is the second special edition model in the Sonet’s line up after the Anniversary Edition which was introduced earlier this year.

2022 Kia Sonet X-Line: Expected Changes

To begin with, the Sonet X-Line will get an exclusive Matte Graphite paint treatment, as confirmed by the teaser. In addition to the new paint job, the SUV will feature a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels, piano black front grille, blacked-out skid plates and an X-Line moniker on the tailgate among others.

On the inside, the four-wheeler is expected to get a new dual-tone black and grey finish along with new leatherette upholstery. The features will remain identical to the top-of-the-line GTX+ trim.

In terms of powertrain, we expected the Sonet X-Line to continue with the 1.5 litre CRDi diesel engine paired to a 6-speed torque converter automatic and a 1.0-litre tGDi engine paired to a 7-speed DCT gearbox. The former will put out 115 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, while the latter is good enough for 120 bhp and 172 Nm peak torque. The X-Line will most likely skip on a manual and iMT transmission options.

The special edition is expected to demand a premium of Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 over the GTX+ trim.
