JSW-MG Could Unveil A New Hybrid SUV On July 16

JSW-MG could reveal a new hybrid SUV on July 16. The SUV may be based on Wuling Starlight 560 with 3-row seating. It is expected to feature modern design and hybrid tech.

JSW-MG Motor India is gearing up for a new product showcase on July 16, and it could bring a brand-new hybrid SUV to the Indian market. While the company has not officially confirmed the model, strong hints suggest that a new three-row New Energy Vehicle (NEV) could be on the way.

The upcoming reveal is part of MG’s growing focus on hybrid and electric vehicles for India.

New SUV Could Expand MG’s Lineup

The upcoming SUV is expected to sit between the MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Majestor in the brand’s portfolio. This positioning suggests that MG is planning to strengthen its presence in the mid-size three-row SUV segment, which is already highly competitive in India.

Interestingly, the model is believed to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560, which is sold in global markets in both plug-in hybrid and electric versions.

Hybrid Powertrain Expected For India

For India, the hybrid version is expected to take priority. Internationally, the plug-in hybrid setup combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 20.5 kWh battery pack, producing a combined output of around 194 hp and 230 Nm of torque. There is also a fully electric version available globally with a claimed range of up to 530 km, although it is still unclear if JSW-MG will bring this variant to India.

Modern Design With Familiar MG Elements

Design-wise, the SUV is expected to carry a bold and modern look. It may feature dual LED DRLs, a blacked-out grille, and a clean, premium stance.

Other expected styling elements include large alloy wheels, blacked-out pillars and roof rails, and connected LED tail-lamps. Overall, the SUV is likely to follow MG’s current global design direction while adding a slightly rugged feel.

Feature-Rich Cabin Expected

Inside, the new MG SUV is expected to come with a modern and feature-loaded cabin. This may include a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver display, wireless charging, dual-tone interiors and a multifunction steering wheel.

Safety features are also expected to be a key focus, with equipment like six airbags, TPMS and other driver assistance features likely to be offered.
