Kia Sorento hybrid debut likely in July 2026 Launch expected during Diwali 2026

We reported earlier that Kia India has announced to launch two new models - Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). While the official names are yet to be released, the new models are expected to be the Kia Syros EV and the Kia Sorento three-row SUV. Both SUVs are slated to be revealed in the last week of July 2026, and the electric version is reportedly to be introduced in August 2026. 


Kia Sorento Hybrid


The report reveals that select Kia dealers have started accepting unofficial bookings for the Sorento hybrid with token amount raging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000. Set to be the brand’s first hybrid offering, the new Kia Sorento is likely to be launched in the country around 2026 Diwali season.


The new Sorento Hybrid will come as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kit, and is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 30 lakh to Rs 35 lakh. It will take on the higher-spec variants of the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari. Moreover, the SUV could also impact the sales of the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and the VW Tayron R-Line. 


In terms of size, the global-spec Kia Sorento is 4815mm long, 1900mm wide and 1700mm tall. The SUV rides on a 2815mm long wheelbase. Compared to the XUV 7XO, the Sorento is 120mm longer, 10mm wider and 55mm shorter. In fact, its wheelbase is around 65mm longer than the XUV 7XO. 


In the global markets, the SUV is available with multiple engine options, including a new 1.6L turbo petrol hybrid engine and a 6-speed AT. An AWD system is also on offer. The SUV is available in 5, 6 and 7 seat configurations. he India-spec model is reportedly to get a 1.5L strong hybrid powertrain, which will also power the Kia Seltos hybrid and the next-gen Hyundai Creta.
