Maruti Suzuki’s Vision 3.0 strategy aims to expand manufacturing capacity, undergo a structural recast, and introduce 10 new models by FY 2030-31. The company targets achieving an additional two million annual capacity in the next nine years. In fact, the Indo-Japanese OEM has exciting plans for 2025, from introducing its first-ever electric vehicle to launching strong hybrid technology. The first move will be the Maruti e-Vitara SUV’s market launch following its public debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show.
The Maruti e-Vitara is essentially the production version of the eVX concept that debuted at last year’s Auto Expo. The SUV stays true to its concept, featuring charging ports on the front flanks, tri-slash LED DRLs at the front and rear, and C-pillar-mounted rear door handles. While the lower trims will come with 18-inch alloys, the higher trims with an AWD setup will get 225/50 R19 tires. The overall length, width, and height remain unchanged. Based on the all-new skateboard Heatecht-e platform, the Maruti e-Vitara will be offered with two battery packs – 49kWh and 61kWh – and will also have an optional dual-motor AWD setup.
Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that its own strong hybrid powertrain will debut with the Fronx facelift, likely to arrive by mid-2025. Codenamed HEV, the strong hybrid system will be significantly cheaper than Toyota’s series-parallel hybrid technology. It will gradually be introduced across all of Maruti Suzuki’s low and mid-level models. The 2025 Maruti Fronx hybrid will come with the 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine (borrowed from the Swift and Dzire), paired with the brand’s new HEV system.
The Indo-Japanese automaker will also enter the premium 7-seater SUV segment with a new model based on the Grand Vitara SUV. It will compete with cars like the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and MG Hector Plus. Underpinned by Suzuki’s Global C architecture, the upcoming Maruti 7-seater SUV will share its design, interior, features, powertrains, and components with the Grand Vitara.
Considering the high demand for CNG vehicles, Maruti Suzuki plans to expand its CNG portfolio and maintain its lead in the Indian CNG vehicle market. Currently, the company has 14 CNG variants on sale, including the Swift CNG, Brezza CNG, and more.
