Hyundai is preparing multiple new products, and most of its existing models will enter the new generation. The Hyundai i20 will be one of the many generation updates, as the next-generation model has been caught testing for the first time in Europe. The new-gen Hyundai i20 will come with significant design and interior changes along with new mechanics.
The new gen Hyundai i20 is rumoured to be revealed in global markets in the second half of 2026, while launch could take place sometime in 2027. The spy images reveal several key aspects of the upcoming new generation of the i20 hatchback.

The spotted model was heavily covered in thick cloth, but it still reveals the shapes of the design elements of the new-gen i20. The new-generation model styling will be based on Hyundai’s new design language, which we will see on the upcoming Hyundai Tucson, next-gen Creta and the India-spec Bayon crossover.
The report further claims that the next-gen Hyundai i20 will come with the internal combustion engine; however, there will be significant changes under the hood. It is expected that the new hatchback could also get a 100% electric derivative based on the e-GMP platform. Also See - Tata Punch Facelift 2025 - Top Features to Look Out For
The new gen Hyundai i20 is likely to get a completely redesigned front fascia, featuring two-part grille with horizontal slats and split headlamp set-up. The headlamp unit seems inspired by the Kia EV5, featuring a light strip above the uniquely styled headlamp unit.
The hatchback retains the cab forward design with flat roof to offer improved headroom space in the second-row. It rides on newly designed alloys, which appears 17-inches in size. Other design highlights include newly designed ORVMs with integrated LED blinkers, a shark fin antenna, and a completely redesigned rear profile.
Hyundai is currently focusing on SUVs to drive sales in the Indian market. The company will introduce the next-gen Creta, Bayon crossover and Inster EV in our market in 2026 and 2027. Moreover, the next-gen Hyundai Venue is arriving by October 2025. Hyundai currently has two products in the hatchback segment, the i20 and Grand i10 Nios. Both likely to receive generation update in 2027-28. Hyundai could launch the hybrid and electric derivatives of these models, as it is reportedly developing a new 1.2L turbo petrol engine with a hybrid set-up.
