Hyundai cars, the second-largest automaker in the country, is rumoured to unveil Creta facelift next month in India. Despite strong sales, the second-gen model that was launched 4 years ago has started to look dated forcing the company to introduce a facelift model. The new Creta will get a fresh exterior design, overhauled interior with new features and updated powertrain options.
The upcoming Hyundai Creta facelift has already been spotted during road test in the country. While the test mules have been clad in camouflage, it did reveal some of the SUVs changes. The front end will feature new square-shaped LED headlights and DRLs, a fresh new parametric jewelled grille and an updated front bumper. While the Creta facelift’s side profile will stay identical to the current model, it will likely get bigger alloy wheels and rear disc brakes. At the rear, the SUV is expected to feature a redesigned bootlid, new LED tail lights with a LED light bar and dynamic turn indicators.
The updates to the Creta facelift will continue inside as well. The new model is expected to feature updated interior theme and upholstery along with new tech equipment. Highlights include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera system, a dash cam and heated/ventilated front seats. The Creta facelift is also slated to get ADAS features like autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assists, and adaptive cruise control.
Hyundai will introduce a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor to the Creta facelift. Already seen on the Verna, the motor pumps out 160 bhp with 253 Nm of max torque. The current model’s 1.5-litre N/A motor making 115 bhp with 144 Nm of max torque and the 1.5-litre turbo diesel pumping out 115 bhp with 250 Nm of max torque will be retained. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, a CVT, and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
While Hyundai is yet to confirm a launch date, latest reports suggest the new Creta facelift will be officially unveiled in India on January 16. In terms of pricing, expect a slight hike over the current model’s range of Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom) - Rs 19.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
Upon launch, the Hyundai Creta facelift will compete against the likes of the Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, MG Astor, and Maruti Grand Vitara.
