Volkswagen is preparing to launch 3 new SUVs in the Indian market in the next 1 year. This year, the company will introduce a 3-row SUV as its flagship model to take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kodiaq. Adding to it, the Taigun will receive a mid-life update in the Q1, 2026. VW is also developing a new sub-4 meter SUV based on the Skoda Kylaq, which is most likely to arrive in our market in 2026.

It is essentially the 7-seater version of the Tiguan, which is on sale in our market in the top-spec R-Line variant. The SUV is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 204PS and 320Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It comes with a standard AWD set-up.
Estimated to be priced around Rs 50-55 lakh, the Tayron will rival the Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kodiaq. The SUV shares styling cues with the Tiguan R-Line. It is equipped with a 15-inch floating infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, HUD, a panoramic sunroof, and powered front seats with massage function, ventilation and lumbar support, and a 3-zone climate control. For safety, the SUV gets 9 airbags as standard, a 360-degree surround view camera with blind spot monitoring, LEVEL 2 ADAS and others.

Volkswagen has started testing the Taigun facelift on the Indian roads. Going by the spy images available on the Internet, it is clear that the SUV will receive cosmetic design and interior changes along with a longer lit of features. On the outside, the SUV likely to get a revised grille, new bumper with restyled lower air dam and fog lamp housing, and a slightly revised headlamp set-up with LED DRLs.
The VW Taigun facelift is likely to get a panoramic sunroof, as the current model is only available with a single-pane sunroof. It will also get LEVEL 2 ADAS tech with features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, auto high beam and others. It won’t receive any mechanical changes. The SUV will continue to be offered with the 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo petrol engines. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic with 1.0L unit, and a 7-speed DSG with the 1.5L unit.
The German automaker is reportedly developing a new sub-4 meter SUV based on the Skoda Kylaq. The new compact SUV will carry its own identity; however, body panels and features will be shared with the Kylaq. It will rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Kia Syros and others.
The new compact SUV is expected to be launched in late 2026. It is likely to be offered with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options. A CNG option could also join the line-up.
