It is no secret that Renault is planning to launch the third generation Duster SUV in the Indian market. Adding to it, the French automaker plans to introduce the Kiger and Triber facelifts in the country in 2025. The new Renault Duster was speculated to be introduced sometime in 2025; however, the launch has been pushed to 2026.
Renault has started testing the new-gen Duster SUV on the Indian roads. In fact, the SUV caught seems in its final development stages. The spy images reveal that the new Renault Duster for India looks similar to the global model, featuring rugged stance along with high ground clearance. The SUV will be a direct rival to Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and others in the mid-sized SUV category.
The new Duster is slightly longer than the previous model at 4.34 meters; however, its wheelbase has been slightly reduced. The SUV rides on a 2657mm long wheelbase. In terms of styling, the new Duster retains the original profile; however, Renault has added more modern design elements. It features slim Y-shaped LED daytime running lamps, a rugged bumper with vertical air vents, and integrated circular fog lamps. The SUV rides on newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels. At the back, the SUV gets Y-shaped taillamps and a tweaked bumper.

It will have a dual-screen setup, comprising of a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a 7-inch digital instrument console.
Renault has given special attention to ergonomics this time, as the centre console is slightly angled towards the driver. It comes with an Arkamys 3D sound system with six speakers, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, rear AC vents, and others.
The new-gen Duster will come with ADAS suite or advanced driver assistance system with features such as lane change warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition with speed alert, and object detection. It will come with multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and others.
Engine details for the India-spec new Renault Duster are still under wraps. However, it is likely to come with a 1.5-litre NA petrol and a 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine. The global-spec model will be offered with three powertrain options - mild hybrid, strong hybrid and LPG. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be available.
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 7-seater, code-named Y17, has been spotted testing. It comes with design enhancements and the same engine choices, with a launch later in 2025 anticipated.
