• Much-awaited mid-size SUV from Maruti Suzuki will launch on the 26th of September • All 6 variants pricing to be revealed at launch • To be sold via the NEXA dealership
After a long wait of around 2 months post its official unveil, Maruti Suzuki will launch the Grand Vitara on 26th September. This new SUV markets the company’s entry into a new segment that it last visited in 2015.

The pricing of Grand Vitara is expected to be in the range of Rs 9.50 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect the strong hybrid range to start from around Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom), while the mild-hybrid variants be priced between Rs 9.50 lakh and Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Grand Vitara will be offered in a total of 6 variants namely Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha, Zeta Plus and Alpha Plus. The first four trims come with the mild hybrid powertrain while the latter 2 are offered with strong hybrid technology only. The AWD option will be available on the top-of-the-line mild hybrid Alpha manual trim only.

Under the hood, the Grand Vitara comes equipped with two powertrain options, a mild hybrid and a strong hybrid. The mild hybrid uses a 1.5 litre K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter gearbox. The strong hybrid set-up comes with a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine paired to an electric motor rated for a combined power output of 114 bhp and 141 Nm of peak torque. This powertrain comes equipped with an e-CVT gearbox and returns a claimed fuel economy of 27.97 kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki has loaded the Grand Vitara will all the bells and whistles. It comes equipped with features like a heads-up display, 9-inch free-standing infotainment unit, ventilated seats, connected car tech, ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof among others. In terms of safety tech, this mid-size SUV gets 6 airbags, ESP, a 360-degree parking camera, day-night IRVM and more.
The Grand Vitara takes on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and the recently launched Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder in its segment.
