Maruti Suzuki to Launch Escudo and e Vitara this financial year A new Maruti sub-4 meter MPV will arrive in 2026 The new MPV will receive the brand's in-house developed hybrid engine
Maruti Suzuki is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. The company is working on a new series hybrid engine to power its mass-market cars including the Fronx, Baleno and Brezza. Moreover, a new range of utility vehicles are under development which will be launched in the next couple of years.
Maruti Suzuki will launch at least 3 all-new utility vehicles in the country in 2025 and 2026. Before the end of this financial year, MSIL will launch two new SUVs including the Suzuki e Vitara and the Escudo. Moreover, Indo-Japanese brand is also preparing an all-new compact MPV based on the Suzuki SPACIA. This model is expected to be launched before the end of next financial year that’s FY27.

Maruti Suzuki has officially announced that the sales of the much-awaited Suzuki e Vitara SUV will commence by September 2025. The SUV made its public debut in India at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Bookings for the SUV are expected to commence soon, but select dealers have already started accepting unofficial orders.
The New Maruti e Vitara will be a direct rival to rival to the Hyundai Creta Electric and the Tata Curvv EV. It will be sold exclusively through NEXA dealership network. The SUV is manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat based platform for domestic and international markets including Europe and Japan.
The electric SUV will come with two battery choices - 49 kWh and 61 kWh - with front-axle-mounted electric motor as standard. While the former offers 143bhp and 192.5Nm, the bigger battery pack offers 173bhp and 192.5Nm. The new electric SUV will offer a certified range of over 500km on a full charge.
In terms of features, the electric SUV gets a 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a digital driver’s display, a multi-colour ambient lighting, wireless charger, 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, LEVEL 2 ADAS, 360-degree surround view camera, TPMS, 7 airbags, all-disc brakes, TPMS and others.
Maruti Suzuki will launch an all-new mid-sized SUV in the country before the end of this year, around Diwali. Rumoured to be called the Maruti Suzuki Escudo, the new SUV will slot between the Brezza and Grand Vitara. It will be sold through ARENA dealership network and will come as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
Codenamed Y17, the new Maruti Escudo will be longer than the Grand Vitara and will offer bigger boot. It will be based on the Suzuki’s Global-C platform that underpins the Grand Vitara and Brezza. The SUV will share most of the features with the Brezza and Grand Vitara.
The SUV is likely to be offered with two powertrains - a 1.5-litre, K15C petrol with a mild-hybrid tech and a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine.

Maruti Suzuki is also working on an all-new entry-level MPV, which will be based on the Suzuki Spacia on sale in Japan. Codenamed YDB, the new sub-4 meter UV is expected to be launched in the country in 2026-27. The global-spec SPACIA is a 3.4 meter long Van, but the India-spec model will be stretched up to 4 meters.
The India-spec model will have regular doors for rear occupants. Moreover, the second-row seats are likely to come with sliding function to access the last row. It will directly rival the Renault Kiger. The MPV is likely to receive significant changes in terms of cabin, design, features and seating layout. It is likely to be sold through NEXA dealership network.
The new MPV is likely to receive the brand’s new in-house developed Series hybrid engine. The hybrid engine is likely to comprise the new Z12E, 1.2L 3-cylinder engine, a 1.5-2kWh battery pack and an electric motor. The 1.2L 3-cylinder engine will act as a generator to change the small battery pack, while the electric motor will drive the front wheels. This small MPV could also get a 1.2L NA petrol engine with manual and AMT option.
