MG Motor India has just released a new teaser of the Astor facelift. A fairly new model in the INdian market, the compact SUV is expected to get a mild cosmetic tweak along with a couple of added features.
While the teaser didn’t reveal any details, MG is expected to offer new features with the Astor facelift. These could include a larger 14-inch infotainment system like the one on the new Hector.
MG Cars may also add segment-first features to the Astor like auto lock/unlock, 8-colour ambient lighting and a powered tailgate. With these added equipment, the Astor will be the most tech-laden compact SUV in India as it already gets features like ADAS, connected car tech, personal AI assistant, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, and more.
MG offers two powertrain options with the Astor, both petrol. This includes a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol motor that makes 140 bhp with 220 Nm of peak torque. There is also a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol unit pumping out 110 bhp with 144 Nm of max torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed AT, a CVT and a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Expect the facelifted Astor to arrive by the end of 2023 or early-2024. MG will likely hike prices for the updated model. Currently, the Astor is priced between Rs 10.82 lakh (ex-showroom) - Rs 18.69 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Astor will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Citroen C3 Aircross, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, VW Taigun, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and the Skoda Kushaq in India.
