Next-gen Tucson global debut likely in late 2026 Bigger in size, boxy design
Hyundai has started testing the next-generation 2027 Hyundai Tucson, which is expected to be launched sometime in 2027. The SUV has been caught testing multiple times in South Korea. Spy images reveal that the next Tucson will grow in size, and will carry a boxy and rugged styling.
The spy images suggest that the 2027 Tucson will ditch the soft, parametric curves of the current model in favour of a rugged and boxy shape inspired by the new Santa Fe. It will have a more vertical front fascia and a flatter, offers a commanding road presence. The next Hyundai Tucson has a unique “clamshell” hood that wraps over the front fenders for a premium look.
The 2027 Hyundai Tucson will come with a newly styled lighting system. Instead of the angel wing DRLs, the new SUV will have vertically-stacked LED turn signals and low-mounted headlight pods. This will be similar to the upcoming Hyundai Palisade. Moreover, the SUV gets muscular, squared-off wheel arches that give it a planted, wide-track stance.
The next-gen Hyundai Tucson will come with a minimalist, tech-heavy cabin. It is expected to receive a massive 17-inch central touchscreen infotainment unit and a 9.9-inch digital instrument panel. The infotainment will have Pleos Operating System, which is a new Android-based system that offers a smartphone-like interface with an integrated App Store.
It will also get an AI Assistant, called Gleo, which is essentially a ChatGPT-like AI assistant capable of understanding complex language commands for navigation and climate control. The big update is that Hyundai will offer physical knobs for volume and essential climate functions.
The Korean media reports that the next-gen Hyundai Tucson will get the next-gen TMED-II hybrid architecture. The PHEV will offer around 100km of all-electric range. It is also likely to get a Performance N variant, which is rumoured to get a 300+ hp AWD turbo-hybrid setup. The SUV will also get LEVEL 2.5 Autonomous Driving capabilities.
The SUV will also get a new XRT Pro variant, which will have improved off-road credentials. The SUV will have an increased ground clearance and lifted suspension, Continental CrossContact all-terrain tires, and functional red tow hooks and heavy-duty roof rails.
