In a bid to regain lost market share, Tata Motors is preparing to launch the new Sierra lifestyle SUV in the country during festive season. The company will also add new engine choices to its existing SUV range. Tata Motors has recently launched the Harrier EV at an aggressive price tag of Rs 21.49 lakh. In the coming months, the Tata Harrier SUV will receive a new petrol engine.
Adding to it, the Tata Safari SUV will also receive a petrol engine option. The brand’s SUV Coupe, the Curvv will also get a new CNG option. The Tata Curvv is currently available with 3 engine choices - Petrol, diesel and EV, and the CNG will be its fourth fuel option.

The two popular Tata SUVs, the Harrier and Safari will get a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. This engine was first revealed at the 2023 Auto Expo. Tata Motors has confirmed that the new Harrier and Safari petrol will be launched in current FY26, that’s by March 2026.
The 1.5 TGDi direct injection turbo-petrol engine is capable of producing 168bhp at 5,000rpm and a peak torque of 280Nm between 2,000 and 3,500rpm. Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Tata Motors is testing the CNG version of the Curvv SUV Coupe. In fact, Tata Motors had confirmed that the Curvv’s Coupe design is compatible with CNG powertrains. The Curvv CNG will join the Nexon I-CNG and will become the only model in its category to feature a turbo petrol engine with a CNG kit. The exact launch timeline is yet to be revealed, but we expect the new Curvv CNG will arrive during festive season.
The Tata Curvv CNG will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine coupled with twin CNG cylinder tanks. This powertrain is capable of producing 99bhp and 170Nm of torque, and is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Curvv CNG will directly rival the Maruti Grand Vitara CNG and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG.
