Putting rumours to rest, Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) has pulled-the-plug of its only sub-compact offering, the Urban Cruiser in India. It was also removed from the Toyota website, confirming the suspicions. Their product page currently lists the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Glanza, Innova Crysta, Fortuner, Camry, Glanza, and the Vellfire. It also looks highly unlikely that the automaker is going to replace the model anytime soon.

With the model reporting zero sales figures in the month of October, the automobile giant has decided to pull it off from the Indian roads. The Toyota Urban Cruiser failed to impress the masses despite being based on the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The Urban Cruiser demanded a high premium over the Maruti due to the massive royalty charges levied by the Indian manufacturer for rebadging. A rejig to include the new generation model, would put the SUV directly in line of the larger Hyryder, making it difficult choice to suggest for customers.

However, this is just about the Toyota Urban Cruiser market in India. Not much is known about the markets abroad, as the Urban Cruiser is quite popular in the South African market with it being the third most-sold Toyota vehicle.
So, let's wait and watch, what the automobile giant plans to do regarding its Cruiser in the coming times ahead. Currently the company is gearing up for the biggest and the most awaited launch of the year with the Innova Hycross.
