The Korean automaker, Hyundai is working on multiple new SUVs for the Indian market. This year, the company will introduce the new generation Venue that has been caught testing multiple times. The company has officially announced to launch 26 new cars including 20 ICE-powered vehicles and 6 new electric vehicles in India by FY2030.
Hyundai is also working on the next-gen Creta SUV, which will come with massive changes. Adding to it, Hyundai will introduce a new 5-seater crossover in the country in 2026. It will be based on the i20 platform and will rival the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The Korean automaker will also launch the Palisade 7-seater SUV as its flagship model. Let’s talk about these 3 SUVs in detail -
Scheduled to be launched in 2026, the new Hyundai Bayon will be a sub-4 meter SUV and will challenge the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The new model will be positioned between the Exter and Venue compact SUV. This crossover could be powered by an all-new 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine.
The new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine is reportedly to offer greater torque and drivability than the existing 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine. Moreover, this engine will be hybrid-ready, and Hyundai could add more models with this new hybrid engine.
Codenamed SX3, the next-gen Hyundai Creta is expected to be introduced in our market in 2027-28. The new model will be manufactured at Hyundai’s production facility in Tamil Nadu. It is likely to retain the existing powertrain options - a 1.5L petrol, a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel.
The next-gen Hyundai Creta is also likely to get a strong hybrid powertrain, which will also power the upcoming 7-seater SUV. Codenamed Ni1i, the new 7-seater SUV will sit between the Alcazar and Tucson. The new hybrid engine is likely to be based on the 1.5L petrol engine coupled to an electric motor and a small battery.
The three-row full-sized Hyundai SUV will go on sale in the country in 2028. Likely to be introduced as a CKD unit, the new Hyundai Palisade will be positioned as the brand’s flagship model in India. It is reported that the Korean brand could localise the Palisade SUV in India and export it to other markets.
Estimated to be priced around Rs 50 lakh, the new Hyundai Palisade will directly rival the Toyota Fortuner. The Palisade SUV will come with Hyundai’s next-gen hybrid engine, which is likely to be offered with a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol. The combined power and torque output stands at 334hp and 460Nm, respectively.
