Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall of the Ignis, Celerio and the Wagon R hatchbacks manufactured between August 3, 2022, and September 1, 2022, over defective rear brake assembly pin. The recall has affected 9,925 units of the hatchbacks and the carmaker has decided to recall all the vehicles for inspection and replacement of the faulty part as a precautionary measure. The brand also confirmed that any part found defective will be replaced free of cost.
In a regulatory filing by the company with BSE, Maruti Suzuki said, "It is suspected that there is a possible defect in the rear brake assembly pin ('Part'), which, in a certain case, may break and cause a peculiar noise. There may be a possibility of an impact on brake performance in the long run."
The company said replacement parts are being arranged and authorised workshops will contact the customers in a phased manner to inspect their vehicles. The brand also added that “necessary repair, if required, will be undertaken post inspection.”
The Wagon R and the Celerio are sold via Maruti’s Arena retail outlets, while the Ignis is available exclusively at the automaker’s premium Nexa dealership chains.
