New design elements and bigger infotainment screen. It will be a 7-seater car with a stretched body. Expected to come with a 1.5-litre petrol or hybrid engine with 4WD.
Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car manufacturer, has been caught testing a new SUV recently. The camouflaged test mule may be either a facelift for the Grand Vitara or a new 7-seater version to compete with the likes of Hyundai Alcazar. Let's get into more details!

The Grand Vitara was launched in India back in September 2022. In a matter of months, the compact SUV emerged as one of the significant competitors to Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Honda Elevate. Two years down the line, it's almost becoming a norm for the cars to undergo updates or facelifts. Given that three years are soon passing since its launch, it is quite likely that the test mule is the modified version of the SUV model that has gained a huge following.
The test mule, from the spy shots, reveals several changes. It is seen that the front design has been modified, with a new fascia. The SUV continues to carry the split headlight design but with the LED DRLs placed at the top and the headlamps at the bottom. The alloy wheels, as seen from the spy shots, have been given a new five-spoke design but are partially covered.
The rear gets redesigned tail lights, which makes it seem integrated. The design does revamp the appearance of the back of the vehicle. In the cabin, the freestanding infotainment screen has grown to a considerably larger size than the present size of 9 inches for the same screen, moving up to around 10 to 11 inches.
This rumoured new SUV from Suzuki may be a 7-seater version of the Grand Vitara. That will face the Hyundai Alcazar if it comes to the market. There might be an increase in length and wheelbase in the vehicle to accommodate three rows. It is expected that captain seats or bench seats might be available in the second row.
The 7-seater Grand Vitara is likely to use the same 1.5-litre petrol engine or the 1.5-litre self-charging hybrid engine found in the existing model. A 4WD option may also be available. If launched, this new SUV would be positioned above the XL6 and below the Invicto in Maruti’s lineup.
This new SUV is still in the testing phase, and more details will be revealed as it gets closer to production. Whether it’s a facelift or a new 7-seater version, it will likely continue to strengthen Maruti Suzuki’s presence in the competitive compact SUV market.
