The arrival of Ford in India has been all over the internet. Earlier, it was reported that the brand will bring its Endeavour SUV to Indian customers with the Everest nameplate. The Ranger pickup was also spied in the country, confirming its arrival in the Indian market too. Both models are based on Ford's global T6 platform and feature the same powertrain options. Initially, the brand will bring these models as a full import. However, these vehicles might be locally assembled at a later stage.
A recent media report stated that the EcoSport nameplate won’t make its re-entry into the Indian market. Moreover, some models that were previously available including the Figo hatchback, Aspire compact sedan, and Freestyle cross-hatch will not be launched in our market.
The reason behind this is that the company could not secure enough sales for these models previously. The company had exited India in 2021 and low sales of these products is one of the main reasons.
Furthermore, the American automaker has no plans to bring any combustion-engined vehicles positioned below the Endeavour (Everest). This indicates that the brand is not expected to launch smaller petrol and diesel models in the Indian market.
Globally, the Endeavour is offered with three powertrain options comprising a 2.0-litre turbo diesel, a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel, and a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel unit. The same engines are shared with Ranger pickup as well. For the India-spec models, the details are yet to be revealed.
