Maruti Suzuki to Launch 3 New Compact SUVs: Y43 Micro SUV to Fronx Facelift

Maruti Suzuki is getting aggressive with its SUV strategy for the Indian market. By early 2027, the company aims to have a refreshed and expanded sub-4 meter SUV lineup that targets wider audience. A new micro SUV is under development, which will target first time car buyers. On the other hand, the Fronx and Brezza will receive mid-life update. 

Maruti Y43 micro SUV

Codenamed Y43, the upcoming micro SUV is set to be the spiritual successor to the Maruti Ignis. This new micro SUV will be positioned as a direct rival to the high-selling Tata Punch and Hyundai Creta. It will be sold exclusively through NEXA dealerships. 

The new micro SUV will feature a more muscular and upright SUV stance with high ground clearance. It is expected to be powered by a 1.2L Z-Series 3-cylinder petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system that powers the Swift and Dzire. Adding to it, the small SUV will also get a CNG powertrain. It will target the first time car buyers looking for an affordable, rugged, and fuel-efficient micro-SUV under Rs 10 lakh. 

Maruti Fronx Facelift

The Maruti Fronx has been a breakout success, and the 2026 facelift aims to further boost its sales. Recent spy shots have confirmed that the crossover will come with modern tech, and high-end features. It could also get a game-changing Series Hybrid powertrain. 

The test mules have been spotted with LIDAR/radar units, suggesting that the SUV could get advanced driver assistance system with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and others. The updated model will get an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. The crossover could get a range-extender hybrid unit based on the 1.2L Z-Series engine. It is likely to deliver a staggering 35kmpl. 

Maruti Brezza Facelift

The Brezza remains the top-selling SUV for Maruti Suzuki; however, Tata Nexon is currently the top-seller in the sub-4 meter SUV category. However, the company will give the Brezza a big makeover to fix the feature-gap with rivals. The SUV will get the underbody CNG tank, which will free up the entire boot space for luggage. 

If reports are to be believed, the Brezza facelift will get the 1.0L Boosterjet turbo petrol engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox and 6AT. The SUV will retain the 1.5L NA petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox. The SUV is expected to get ADAS tech, 360-degree camera, six airbags and other safety tech.
