Mahindra has showcased 4 new concept SUVs - Vision X, Vision S, Vision T and Vision SXT at its FREEDOM NU event on August 15, 2025. All four concepts are based on the brand’s new NU_IQ modular platform, which is compatible with different powertrains, FWD and AWD capabilities. The Mahindra Vision X was the sub-4 meter concept, which is expected to be the next-gen Mahindra XUV 3XO.

The outgoing XUV 3XO is based on the SsangYong Tivoli’s platform, which also underpins the XUV400. The next-gen model will be designed and developed on Mahindra’s new front-wheel-drive modular platform. This new NU_IQ modular platform will be used to develop SUVs measuring between 3,990mm and 4,320mm in length.
The concept rides on 2,665mm wheelbase, which is longest among all sub-4 meter SUVs on sale in India. In fact, it is even bigger than many mid-sized SUVs including Hyundai Creta that rides on 2610mm long wheelbase. The production model could see a minor reduction, but a longer wheelbase promises more space in the second-row and bigger boot.

The concept has a sporty, crossover design complemented by an upright stance and high ground clearance. It shares some of the design highlights like sculpted bonnet, coupe-like rear windscreen and spoiler with the BE 6 Coupe SUV. Upfront is a Mahindra’s Twin Peaks logo, which confirms that the production model will belong to XUV family. The concept had closed off grille, which is associated with XEV EV family. The lighting elements and fog lamp clusters seem inspired by the Mahindra XEV 9e.
The SUV has squared wheel arches that houses dual-tone alloys, while the black cladding all around the body gives Vision X a rugged appeal. It has flush-fitting door handles and strong creases on the doors.

The SUV’s cabin shows Mahindra’s future design direction, featuring a layered dashboard dominated by curved display housing touchscreen infotainment unit and driver’s display. The three-tone dashboard houses a newly designed steering wheel, rectangular-shaped air con vents and newly designed centre console with storage spaces. Another highlight is the availability of separate armrests for both driver and co-driver.

Mahindra confirms that the new NU_IQ platform is compatible with hybrid powertrain. In fact, the company is reportedly working on a strong hybrid engine using the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The existing XUV 3XO is most likely to be the first model to get the new hybrid engine with launch expected in 2026.
Mahindra has revealed that the new NU_IQ platform based SUVs will start arriving from 2027. It is expected that the next XUV 3XO will be launched in the country sometime in 2028.
