Skoda Yeti had a niche fan following in India. This compact crossover SUV was first introduced with a 2.0L TDI diesel engine and offered in 4X2 and 4X4 options in November 2010. It received its first mid-life update in September 2014 with a slightly revised design and more features, while retaining the powertrains.
The Yeti remained in India as a single-generation model throughout its lifecycle. However, the compact crossover was discontinued in 2017 due to poor sales and higher pricing compared to its arch-rivals. The Yeti was replaced by the Skoda Karoq in global markets in May 2020. In India, this compact crossover paved the way for the all-new Kodiaq three-row SUV.
Now, here’s the good news for Skoda Yeti fans. Skoda CEO Klaus Zelmar, who is also a big fan of the Yeti, has revealed that the company is contemplating bringing back the compact crossover. However, he also mentioned that he doesn’t see a future for the Yeti in the European market. While there is no official word on its arrival in India, speculations suggest that its return to the Indian market could be a possibility.
Meanwhile, Skoda Auto India has launched the all-new Kylaq sub-4 metre SUV within the price range of Rs 7.89 lakh – Rs 14.40 lakh. The SUV model lineup is spread across four trims – Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige – powered by a 1.0L turbo petrol engine. There are four petrol-manual variants priced between Rs 7.89 lakh – Rs 13.35 lakh, and petrol-automatic variants are available within the price range of Rs 10.59 lakh – Rs 14.40 lakh. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom. The carmaker has confirmed that deliveries of the Skoda Kylaq will begin from 27th January 2025.
The Skoda Kylaq is a well-packed compact SUV. Right from its standard variant, you get features such as rear parking sensors, six airbags, electronic stability control and traction control systems, remote central locking, powered wing mirrors, powered windows, manual AC, fabric seats, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, LED taillamps, 15-inch steel wheels with covers, and more. Features such as a wireless phone charger, leatherette upholstery, powered sunroof, interior ambient lighting, auto-dimming IRVM, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, an in-car connectivity suite, power-folding wing mirrors, hill hold assist, and more are available in higher trims.
