Tata to Launch Next-gen Nexon, Scarlet and Punch Facelift in India

Tata Motors is preparing to launch 30 cars, including 7 new nameplates and new-generations of existing models by 2030. The company is preparing the next-gen Nexon, which is expected to be launched sometime in 2027. Adding to it, the popular Punch and Punch EV will receive mid-life updates in 2025-26.

In the sub-4 meter SUV category, Tata Motors is also developing an all-new SUV, internally codenamed Tata Scarlet. The new SUV will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV and will be positioned between the Nexon and Curvv in the line-up. It won’t come with 4WD set-up like the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki Jimny

Tata Scarlet

The Tata Scarlet compact SUV will come with a boxy design inspired by the Sierra lifestyle SUV. The mini Sierra is expected to be based on the ATLAS platform that underpins the Curvv SUV Coupe. The new model will be a front-wheel-drive SUV and will be fitted with several high-end features. It is likely to be packed with a new 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol. An electric derivative of the compact SUV could also be launched in the market. Next-gen Tata Nexon

The next-gen Tata Nexon, internally codenamed ‘Garud’, is likely to be based on a heavily modified version of the existing X1 platform. It is expected to receive major exterior and interior changes, which will be in line with newer Tata models. We expect the next-gen Nexon to receive high-end features, including LEVEL 2 ADAS. The next-gen Nexon could come with petrol and CNG powertrains.

Tata Punch and Punch EV Facelifts

Tata Motors is preparing to give a mid-life update to its popular micro SUVs, including the Punch and Punch EV. In fact, the Tata Punch facelift has been caught testing multiple times on the Indian roads. The ICE model is likely to share design and interior changes with the Punch EV. It is likely to get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a larger digital driver’s display, a new two-spoke steering wheel, a touch-based HVAC panel and others. The micro SUV will continue to be offered with a 1.2L NA petrol engine with manual and AMT gearbox options.

The Punch EV facelift is likely to receive a larger battery pack from the Nexon EV. The outgoing model is available with two battery choices - 25kWh and 35kWh. It is likely to get Tata Intelligence Digital Architecture Layer, digital key, DrivePay, an ADAS suite and others.
