Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the CNG variants of its Urban Cruiser Hyryder in the country. The SUV is being offered in two variants; S and G which are priced at Rs 13.23 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 15.29 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. Back in November 2022, the company had already started bookings for the Hyryder CNG at the token amount of Rs 25,000. Besides, the CNG option costs Rs 95,000 more when compared to its petrol version.
As far as the design is concerned, Toyota has not changed anything in its Hyryder CNG; it retains the same exterior look as the mild-hybrid petrol version except for the addition of the CNG badge. Moving on to the interior layout, the new CNG model highlights an all-black colour theme with the same steering wheel and switchgear as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. However, Toyota Hyryder CNG compromises the storage capacity compared to the petrol version as it gets a 60-litre CNG tank in the boot.
Furthermore, the G trim of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG offers full-LED headlamps, a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an engine start/stop button, cruise control, 6 airbags and a reverse camera with parking sensors. In addition, the SUV rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.
The new CNG model of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder carries the same 1.5-litre, 4-Cylinder, K12C engine as the Maruti Suzuki XL6 CNG. While the petrol engine generates 101 bhp of maximum power output and 136 Nm of peak torque, the CNG option delivers a power output of only 87 bhp alongside 121.5 Nm peak torque. Besides, the SUV is available with a 5-speed manual transmission. As claimed by Toyota, the new Hyryder CNG offers a mileage of 26.6 km/kg.
Since the Hyryder is the second mid-size SUV after the Grand Vitara to be equipped with factory fitted CNG kit, it will be the only SUV to compete with the CNG option. Besides, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder takes on the likes of KIA Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, and MG Astor in its segment.
