The Korean automaker, Hyundai is ready to launch the long-awaited Creta EV in the Indian market by January 2025. It will be the brand's first locally developed electric vehicle in the country. Moreover, Hyundai will introduce 3 more mass-market electric cars including an entry-level electric SUV and an electric hatchback. Adding to it, the Venue sub-4 meter SUV is also expected to receive an EV-derivative in the near future.
It is no secret that Hyundai is developing the next-gen Venue sub-4 meter SUV that has already been caught testing multiple times on the Indian roads. The electric version of the next-gen Hyundai Venue is also reportedly under development. In fact, the Hyundai Venue EV will be an important product for the Korean brand as it will take on the segment-leader Tata Nexon EV. Adding to it, Mahindra will also introduce an electric derivative of the XUV 3XO compact SUV. The Mahindra XUV 3XO electric will go on sale in the country in next year.
The ICE version of the next-gen Hyundai Venue is reportedly to be launched in the country by late 2025. It will be the first model to be manufactured at Hyundai's new Talegaon factory, which Hyundai acquired from General Motors in 2023. Internally codenamed QU2i, the new Venue is expected to enter production-line in October 2025.
Hyundai India has confirmed that it will invest Rs 20,000 crore for EV development over the next eight years. The Korean brand will use India as an mainstream EVs manufacturing hub. As per media report, Hyundai aims to produce 26,000 units of the Creta EV and 65,000 units of the Inster EV.
The Korean brand will introduce the global Inster EV in the Indian market by 2026. The Hyundai Inster EV will also mark the debut of Hyundai's global and affordable E-GMP (K) born electric platform. It will be manufactured at Hyundai's Sriperumbudur factory. It measures 3825mm in length, 1610mm in width and 1575mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2580mm. The electric micro SUV offers a boot space of 280-litres, which can be extended up to 351-litres.
The Hyundai Inster EV is packed with a 42kWh battery pack as standard, while a long-range 49kWh battery comes as an optional. Both models are equipped with front-axle mounted electric motors offering 97PS in the base variant and 115PS in the long-range variant. The peak torque stands at 147Nm for both variants. It is claimed to offer an electric range of 355km on a single charge.
