Hyundai Motor India Ltd has revealed new features of the next-gen Verna ahead of its global debut on March 21. The mid-size sedan is slated for a launch later this month. Bookings have already commenced, with deliveries set to start from mid-April.
The new Hyundai Verna will come with a dual 10.25-inch screens for both the infotainment screen and the digital instrument cluster. This setup is similar to the one seen on the recently launched Ioniq 5 EV. The new sedan will get an 8-speaker audio setup from Bose, replacing the outgoing model’s Arkamys system.
Another notable feature addition to the next-gen Verna’s cabin is the switchable touch panel unit that switches interface between infotainment control and HVAC at the press of a button. The sedan will also get heated and ventilated front seats. Hyundai has already revealed some features of the new Berna earlier like a cooled glove box, unique front passenger phone holder, and a multipurpose console, and a dual-tone beige and black interior with leatherette upholstery.
Hyundai will offer two petrol powertrain options with the new Verna. The entry-level variants will be available with the 1.5-litre N/A petrol engine from the current model. This unit makes 115 bhp with 145 Nm of max torque and is paired to a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission.
The higher trims of the new model will be powered by a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor, pumping out 160 bhp with 253 Nm of peak torque. Transmission could options include a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic.
Both powertrains meet the upcoming BS6 Phase II emission norms and are E20 (20 percent ethanol blend) fuel compliant.
While prices haven’t been announced yet, expect the new Verna to be around Rs 60,000 - Rs 1 lakh more than the outgoing model. The current Verna’s prices range from Rs 9.63 lakh (ex-showroom) - Rs 15.71 lakh (ex-showroom).
Upon launch, the next-gen Hyundai Verna will rival the likes of the Škoda Slavia, VW Virtus, Maruti Ciaz, and the recently facelifted Honda City.
