Renault-Nissan has just made an announcement on their future product plans for India. The company has already started work towards launching three new models in the market soon. The automaker is reportedly investing around Rs 4,000 crore on this new India plan.
The first-gen Renault Duster was one of the first compact SUVs in the Indian market, proving to be an immensely successful product for the brand. While the brand didn’t launch the second-gen model, it is expected to introduce the third-gen model in the country by 2025.

The third-gen Duster’s design will be inspired by the Dacia Bigster concept and features a boxy and rugged silhouette with chunky wheel arches, roof rails, and black body cladding all round. It will be offered in both 5-seat and 7-seat configurations. Upon launch, it will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Hector and the Tata Harrier.
With the launch of the upcoming third-gen Duster, the company will also debut the localised version of the CMF-B platform to bring down costs of new products in India. Developed by Nissan and Renault, the platform will spawn multiple models from both brands, including an all-new SUV apart from the Duster.
The platform is going to be modified for India and other low-cost markets, removing the non-essential components. However, it will remain future proof, conforming to all existing and upcoming safety norms. The platform will also support electrification to accommodate EV and hybrid powertrains.
Nissan cars will be introducing a new MPV in India that will be based on the same CMF-A+ platform as the Triber. Currently, the brand only sells the Magnite subcompact SUV, and hopes the new model will help with consumer interest and sales.
Both brands are planning to launch an entry-level EV for India that will be based on the CMF-A EV platform. This platform already underpins the Kwid e-Tech that’s sold in Latin American countries.
MG Hector petrol variants now E20 fuel compatible; 2025 model launched with no price hike, meeting new emission norms and supporting sustainable mobility.
