The long-awaited Mahindra Thar 5-door lifestyle SUV has officially teased, and is set to reveal on the Independence Day, August 2024. Clear exterior images of the SUV have already hit the Internet, revealing a significantly revised styling. In fact, Mahindra has officially teased the new 5-door Thar. Called the Mahindra Thar Roxx, the 5-door lifestyle SUV will receive several high-end features that are not offered in the 3-door sibling.
The new Thar 5-door was speculated to be called the Thar Armada, but that didn't happen. In fact, Mahindra has already trademarked the nameplate in India. The company has officially announced that the new 5-door SUV will be called the Mahindra Thar Roxx.
Mahindra will aim at aggressive pricing for the Thar 5-door SUV. We have previously seen Mahindra pricing its bigger SUVs very aggressively to gain traction. The 3-door model is available at a starting price of Rs 11.35 lakh. We believe that the Mahindra Thar Roxx 5-door price in India will start around Rs 13.5 lakh, which is likely to go up to Rs 20 lakh. It will rival the Force Gurkha 5-door.
The new Mahindra Thar Roxx 5-door is scheduled to make its global debut on August 15, 2024. Bookings for the same are expected to begin on the same day. The launch date will be revealed in August, but we expect the new model to go on sale by October 2024. In fact, select Mahindra dealers have already started taking unofficial bookings for the lifestyle SUV
It will be branded as a more practical offering in the lifestyle SUV category. The new model will be more feature loaded and spacious than the 3-door model. The Thar Roxx will come with a fixed metallic roof, which is required to give a sunroof.
The Thar 5-door is most likely to be offered with both single-pane and dual-pane sunroof options. The SUV will also receive several new features, which are missing in the smaller sibling. The cabin will be finished in a dual-tone paint brown and black colour scheme. For reference, the 3-door model comes with all-black interior.
The dashboard has similarities with the smaller model, as it features the signature round-shaped AC vents, grab handle for the co-occupant and a metal badge plate positioned below the left AC vent. The SUV will have a bigger touchscreen infotainment unit with Mahindra's latest user interface. The switchgears and physical buttons will be identical to the 3-door Thar.
