Hyundai India is planning to install 600 fast-charging stations in the country over the next decade that may end by 2032. That is one of the measures it is taking to upgrade EV infrastructure. So that it can get electric vehicles adopted at an accelerated pace in the nation.
The 600 fast charging stations are to be implemented in a phased manner over the next seven years. These charging points shall be located along highways and big cities so that long-distance travel is easy for the EV users. By the end of 2024, Hyundai will have 50 DC fast chargers all over the country.
To facilitate national plans that will see 100 EV charging stations set up in the state by 2027, the Tamil Nadu government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with an automaker. Under this MoU, the firm has agreed to put 10 fast-charging stations by the end of 2024 available 24/7, for owners of Hyundai and non-Hyundai EVs, through the myHyundai app.
The step is to counter one of the biggest hurdles in electric cars. There aren't many recharging stations. Hyundai has already conducted over 50,000 charging sessions at its fast-charging stations. Over 10,000 electric car owners have availed the stations. The stations have provided over 7.30 lakh units of electricity. It has dispelled most of the apprehensions regarding electric cars.
Hyundai is waiting patiently for this Indian EV market to boom by 2030. For that, the company is working hard at grassroots to erect all the necessary infrastructure. So that the customer-finding EV buying process may not become impractical and too costly for the customer.
Hyundai will start to roll out the Creta EV from January 2025 and will be available with more than 500km in a single charge. Others in this race are electric SUVs like Tata Curvv and MG ZS EV. Hyundai continues working upon its EV lineup in the country to better its EV portfolio in India.
Hyundai promises to send India in the direction of cleaner and more sustainable mobility through strong EV infrastructure and exciting new electric models.
