Dacia Duster, which is likely to be launched in India as the new Renault Duster, has scored 3-star safety ratings in a crash test. The crash test was conducted by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) for the 1.6-litre petrol hybrid LHD Duster model. Find out the detailed safety ratings for the SUV.
For the Adult Occupants, the new Duster scored 28.1 points out of 40 in total. In the Front and Lateral Impact, the car scored 11.4 and 12 points, respectively, out of 16 points. In the Rear Impact, the Duster scored 3.6 points out of 4 points while for the Rescue and Extrication, it scored 1.2 out of 4 points.

For the safety test, two dummies of a 6-year-old child and a 10-year-old child were used where the Duster scored 6 points out of 13 points due to the absence of Child Retrain System (CRS) and Child Presence Detection features.
For the pedestrian safety tests, the Dacia Duster scored 38.2 points out of 63. In the VRU Impact Protection, it secured 21.9 out of 36 points while in the Impact Mitigation test, it collected 16.2 out of 27 points.
All in all, the new Duster scored 70 percent for Adult Occupant protection and 84 percent for Child Occupant safety. Besides, the SUV scored 60 percent in the Pedestrian Road Test and 57 percent in the Safety Assist category.
Renault has confirmed that the third-generation Duster SUV will arrive in our market sometime in mid-2025. The new model will also mark the debut of a locally developed CMF-B modular platform, which will also underpin a 7-seater SUV. It will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and others in the category.
Unlike the global model, available with hybrid powertrains, the India-spec Duster is reported to be offered with 3 petrol engine options. The top-spec model will get the powerful 1.3L turbo petrol engine, while the lower variants will receive either a 1.5L NA petrol or a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine.
