After years of waiting and rumours, Ferrari has finally uncovered its first ever four-door four-seater car, the Purosangue. Built with utmost precision this front-mid engine sports car/SUV deliveries a weight distribution of 49:51. Expected to make its global debut in 2023, the car is set for a India launch at the end of next year.
The new Purosangue is unmistakably a Ferrari that features sculpted body panels and chiselled lines. The exterior design of this revolutionary Ferrari car is a perfect mix between a sportscar and a hunched-down SUV. Upfront we see the sleek LED DRLs which sit above the main headlamp unit and in-between the two air intakes. The lower section of the front end features a splitter flanked by two air ducts for better cooling, and a distinctive housing for the parking sensors. Along with this the car also gets front camera that is neatly integrated into the overall design. Towards the rear, the SUV gets a rood spoiler, double-down LED tail lights and a pronounced diffuser which houses the double barrel exhaust at both ends.
The new cabin presents a combination of elegant and sporty aesthetics to its occupants. The large digital driver’s cockpit is a direct lift-off from the SF90 Stradale and also mirrored on the passenger side. The 10.2-inch unit works well and provides all the necessary information to both the drivers and the passenger. In addition, the new dual-cockpit design confers a sense of uniformity to the passengers along with a centre console that houses the hideaway rotary interface for the in-cabin comfort functions.
Other highlights of the cabin include a metal gear shifter, central power-window switches and a double cup holder made of glass. It also features four independently adjustable seats, massage function for front seats, air quality sensor with PM 2.5 filter and a built-in navigation system amongst others as standard. Audio duties on the flagship product are taken car by a new Burmester® 3D High-End Surround Sound System.
In terms of safety equipment, the Ferrari Purosangue SUV comes equipped with ADAS features as standard which include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Automatic Emergency Brake System (AEB), Auto High Beam (HBA/HBAM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), Driver Drowsiness and Attention (DDA), and rear-view parking camera (NSW). It also gets ESC, Hill Descent Control, Side Slip Angle Control and Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
The highlight feature of the Purosangue is its 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine that produces 725 bhp and 716 Nm of peak torque. The new unit uses Ferrari’s latest architecture with a 65-degree angle between its cylinder banks and a dry sump with high-pressure direct injection. 80 percent of the total power and torque is available at as low as 2100 rpm giving the four-wheeler its sportscar like drive. This set-up comes mated to an 8-speed F1-DCT gearbox. Despite weighing significantly more than a standard Ferrari, the Purosangue completes the 0-100 kmph sprint in under 3.3 seconds while the 200 kmph mark is achieved in 10.6 seconds.

The Purosangue boasts of the world's first Ferrari active suspension technology enabled by Multimatic’s True Active Spool Valve (TASV) System. This new suspension architecture offers numerous advantages by combining electric motor actuation with a high-precision spool valve ensuring that the body and wheels can be controlled actively with more force authority and at higher frequencies.
The Ferrari Purosangue competes with other performance SUVs in the market namely, Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga, Aston Martin DBX 707 and Porsche Cayenne GT.
