As per a certain media report, it is believed that Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to make a significant impact in the SUV market with the launch of two noteworthy SUV models. The first, a 3-row SUV codenamed Y17, is set to be introduced in 2025 and will be manufactured at the company’s upcoming Kharkhoda plant. Based on the Grand Vitara, it is believed that it will be positioned in the price bracket of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.
Apart from this, the brand has plans to introduce an entry-level SUV with the codename Y43. Expected to hit Indian roads sometime between 2026 to 2027, the model will target a comprehensive range of price points within the SUV segment.
With the launch of the two planned SUVs, the homegrown automaker is expected to increase its annual sales by 2,50,000 units if the market demand matches their production volume. Thanks to the popularity of products like the Fronx, Grand Vitara, and Jimny, Maruti Suzuki has already doubled its SUV market share to over 20 percent in the current fiscal year.
However, the success of these upcoming SUVs will be crucial for the automaker in reaching its goal of a 50 percent market share in the passenger vehicle market.
Besides these offerings, the brand also has an exciting lineup of new cars planned for this year. The Next-Generation Swift slated for a first half introduction, promises to provide substantial upgrades on the outside as well as the inside. Some of the features available on board the hatchback would include updated 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Auto AC, Heads-Up Display, Cruise Control among others Following the footsteps of the Swift, the Next-Generation Dzire will also be revamped. It will get a redesigned front end, roomy interior, and advanced features like a large touchscreen infotainment system and steering-mounted controls.
As for the Maruti Suzuki eVX, it is said to launch sometime in the year 2025. The EV will feature a dual motor setup powered by a 60kWh battery pack having an estimated range of 550 km. These additions showcase Maruti Suzuki's commitment to offering diverse and innovative options across various segments.
