Tata Motors is all set to kick-start 2025 with a bang. The indigenous automaker will unveil two highly anticipated electric SUVs, the Harrier EV and the Sierra EV, at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show in January. These EVs are slated to go on sale next year. Additionally, Tata Motors will launch the updated Tiago hatchback and Tigor compact sedan in the first quarter of 2025. Here’s a brief overview of these upcoming Tata cars.
The Tata Harrier EV is likely to be the first major product launch from the homegrown automaker in 2025. This electric SUV will be built on the Acti.ev (Advanced Connected Tech Intelligent Electric Vehicle) platform, which also underpins the Punch EV and Curvv EV. The Acti.ev platform is a pure electric architecture supporting all three drivetrain systems: FWD, RWD, and AWD. Vehicles based on this platform are claimed to deliver a range of up to 600 km and support 11 kW AC charging as well as DC fast charging of up to 150 kW.
While specifications of the Harrier EV remain under wraps, it is expected to feature a 60 kWh battery paired with dual electric motors, offering a range of around 500 km on a full charge. The Harrier EV will also include V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) and V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) charging functionalities. Its design and styling will differ slightly from the ICE counterpart, with several EV-specific updates to the cabin as well.
The launch of the Tata Sierra EV and ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) models is scheduled for 2025. The electric Sierra will hit the market first, likely offering both single-motor and dual-motor setups with a maximum range of around 500 km per charge. An AWD (All-Wheel Drive) system could also be available as an option.
The ICE version of the Sierra will feature Tata’s all-new 1.5L Hyperion turbo petrol engine and a 2.0L diesel engine. The all-new Sierra will adopt Tata’s latest design language while retaining iconic elements from the original model, such as the large rear glass area, curved rear windows, and blacked-out C- and D-pillars.
Built on the Acti.ev platform, the Sierra EV will share its underpinnings with other Tata EVs, while the ICE version will be based on the ATLAS architecture. Both variants will offer a Level 2 ADAS suite and an array of modern features.
Tata’s entry-level hatchback, the Tiago, and compact sedan, the Tigor, are set to receive midlife updates early next year. Both models will feature subtle styling tweaks, including redesigned front and rear bumpers, updated headlamps and taillamps, and a new set of alloy wheels.
Interior changes will include a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, rear AC vents, a front center armrest, and updated seat upholstery.
Under the hood, the facelifted Tiago and Tigor will continue to be powered by the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine, with the CNG fuel option remaining available.
