Kia Motors will introduce two electric SUVs in the near future, the EV2, and the Syros EV. The two vehicles have different features, design, and market, so it is necessary to compare them to determine which could be most suitable for the Indian market.
Kia has unveiled the Concept EV2 at its EV Day in Spain along with another model, the EV4. The Concept EV2 is a battery-electric city SUV. The Concept EV2 is following the contemporary EV styling of Kia in a clean and minimalist exterior appearance. The SUV has vertical DRLs and Kia's "Star Map" signature lighting, which give its front a signature look of the brand. The SUV has aggressive bumpers, strong fenders, and an energetic shoulder line, which gives it a solid and upright appearance.
Inside, the Concept EV2 is roomed out length-wise in sustainable material and adaptable seating configurations. It has a flat floor, moving front seats, and pop-up luggage dividers to ensure functionality. The rear-hinged doors are one of its unique characteristics, which may increase the passenger ease of entry and exit. The SUV also boasts future-forward technology in the form of Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, and removable speakers to provide greater audio.
While the Concept EV2 is a thrilling concept, Kia will be bringing it to market in its production form in 2026. It will first be launched in Europe, and a possible launch in the U.S. can be anticipated by 2027. Since compact electric SUVs are becoming popular in India, the EV2 would be a perfect candidate for the Indian market in the future. But Kia has already announced that the Syros EV will be arriving in India soon, which can postpone the launch of the EV2.
Kia's Syros EV is a battery-electric compact SUV, which will hit Indian roads in early 2026. It will offer an affordable electric vehicle option to Indian buyers. Syros EV will rival best-sellers such as the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400.
The Syros EV is likely to be based on the Hyundai-Kia K1 platform, which will be electric vehicle–sensitive and compact. This would be inexpensive to Kia in Indian economy and still be economical. Even though no official word about the motor's and battery's specifications has come out, Syros EV is going to carry a driving distance of about 400 km, the same distance as that of Hyundai Inster EV, the platform of which is the same and driving distance is 355 km.
Internally, Syros EV would also feature two 12.3-inch screens as infotainment and driver's display, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, and Harman Kardon sound system. It may even feature Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature to charge outside devices from its battery. It could also feature the choice of six airbags, 360-degree camera system, and other advanced driver assist systems (ADAS).
At an estimated price bracket of Rs. 15 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh, the Syros EV will appeal to price-sensitive buyers. On time with its launch, the Syros EV will be one to watch out for in India's burgeoning electric vehicle segment.
Though the Kia Concept EV2 boasts a heart-pounding design and features, it is a concept car and would be released in 2026 in countries such as Europe and America. Yet the Syros EV is tailored for the India and would hit the Indian markets in early 2026. With its low cost, massive range, and premium features, it is a more probable model to hit the Indian roads first.
In short words, both the Syros EV and the Kia Concept EV2 do have rosy futures but the Syros EV is the one that will come to India first. Though its target market is in India, it is affordable and possesses basic features Indians are looking for. Though promising, the Concept EV2 will take a couple of years to come to India.
