Do you know Mahindra was not an automotive company? In fact, the manufacturer was initially founded as a Steel Trading Company in 1945. Since the Mahindra brothers collaborated with Ghulam Mohammed, the company's original name was Mahindra and Mohammed.
However, the company name was changed to Mahindra and Mahindra after Mohammed left for Pakistan to be the Finance Cabinet Minister in 1948. Later in 1954, the Mahindra brothers collaborated with Willys Overland Corporation, and it was the first time Mahindra agreed to construct Jeep vehicles in India. This is how Mahindra made its entry into the automotive sector.

Under the license of Willy Jeep, Mahindra assembled the first Jeep CJ3 in 1954. Later in 1965, the company started assembling light commercial vehicles. After that, Mahindra continued producing a wide range of vehicles involving MUVs, SUVs, LCVs and three-wheelers.
Bolero was the best-selling UV for 10 consecutive years. In fact, India's first SUV, Scorpio was launched by Mahindra in 2002. Further, Mahindra & Mahindra became the first Indian auto manufacturer to bring the CRDe (Common Rail Diesel Engine) that was offered in Scorpio.

There are so many automobile brands in India but why are the customers drawn towards Mahindra products more than others? The fact is, Mahindra & Mahindra has been evolving and making advancements to their vehicle technology. The company offers the best SUVs, ie., Thar, XUV 700, and Scorpio N. Besides that, Mahindra provides strong build quality, great resale value, and powerful engines (mHawk) in its vehicles.

After making popular automobile products, Mahindra is now shifting its attention to the electric vehicle segment. The all-electric five-seater XUV 400 will make its debut in the Born Electric lineup in January 2023, the manufacturer has stated. Even though electric cars will be used in Formula E, the company has a squad called Mahindra Racing that competes in that series. The interesting fact is there is no other Indian team in the race as of now.
With a devoted research and development team, Mahindra has been a pioneer in the automobile industry including other areas. Here, we have shared some interesting facts about Mahindra cars. Hope you loved knowing them!
