Tata Motors will be introducing a number of new cars and SUVs in India this year. Some of them have already been spotted testing on the roads, providing us with a preview of what's to come. Tata premiered the mass production version of the Harrier EV and an advanced pre-production model of the Sierra petrol SUV at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Tata is also set to debut the facelifted versions of the Safari and Altroz. Let's take a look on upcoming Tata cars.
The Tata Harrier EV is an electric variant of the Harrier SUV. It will be built on Tata's Gen 2 EV platform. While it might appear to be the same as the standard Harrier, there are some significant differences.
The Harrier EV will receive a blanked-off grille and redesigned bumper up front. It also receives a new alloy wheel set with aero-specific covers. The rear will comes with connected LED taillights with welcome and goodbye animations, as well as a new bumper.
Internally, the interior of Harrier EV will identical to that of the regular Harrier but receives a white and grey premium color scheme. It will also features contemporary amenities such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital driver's display, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and JBL sound system.
The Harrier EV will feature premium safety technologies such as 7 airbags, 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, and Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). The vehicle will feature an all-wheel-drive system along with a range of more than 500 km on a single charge. The electric SUV will be expected to offer enhanced handling with a multi-link rear suspension over the conventional Harrier's torsion beam setup.
Tata Motors is gearing up to give the premium hatch Altroz a facelift. The new car will receive subtle updates to the exterior design, including a fresh front bumper, restyled headlamps, and fresh alloy wheels. The cabin will possibly come with a bigger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and new upholstery.
The Altroz facelift will also carry over features such as ventilated front seats, an electric sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is likely to carry over its existing powertrains, with no updates to the engine choices.
The facelifted Altroz will rival hatchbacks such as the Hyundai i20, Maruti Baleno, and Toyota Glanza. It is the sole car in this segment to feature a diesel engine.
The Tata Safari facelift is due to arrive in July 2025. The vehicle was seen recently undergoing test drives with a heavy camo layer. Cosmetic changes will adorn the new Safari, along with a new petrol engine variant.
The 2025 Safari will be equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which will churn out 170 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. The engine will be light and efficient, providing improved performance and fuel economy. The petrol variant of the Safari will rival the likes of the Mahindra XUV 700, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector Plus.
The Safari electric version will be using the same battery pack as the Harrier EV and is expected to have a full-charge driving range of 500 km. It will be going up against electric SUVs such as the MG ZS EV and BYD Atto 3.
The Tata Sierra was first unveiled as a pre-production version at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The Sierra was last spotted testing on Indian roads, indicating that its launch is imminent. The Sierra will probably launch during Diwali (October-November) 2025.
The Sierra will come with petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains. It will compete as a premium offering against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The new-gen Sierra will feature contemporary styling cues drawn from the original 1990s Sierra model.
The ICE variant of the Sierra will be equipped with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine. The electric model will have a 75 kWh battery and a two-motor all-wheel-drive system, which will provide over 500 km of range on a single charge.
